When a leak is discovered it is very important to observe the breach or leak and then shut off the source to the breach.  Sometimes you can contain a leak without turning off the water to the entire unit or building.

Call ServiceMaster or another disaster restoration vendor to dispatch a water damage crew and equipment right away.  The sooner they arrive the less damage and reconstruction headaches you will have.

When they arrive they will immediately stop any further damage to your personal property and structural property right away.  Usually water extraction will come after most content is cleared from the effected area.  So, if you are able, please go ahead and start to remove the items yourselves before we get there.  Timing is of the essence when it comes to water damage.  It is quite simply amazing what 2 inches of water can do to a home.
